 Ken Ives is one of the owners and President of Burt Ives Honda. He has been in the motorcycle business all of his life, having been born in the apartment attached to the motorcycle shop that is now a hair salon. Ken used to run around the shop as a little tyke barefooted and in three corner pants and terrorize customers while his dad, Burt, would talk to customers. During his high school years while at Windham High School he used to work part time in the shop rebuilding Harley Motorcycles in the service department. In 1964-65 Ken was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY while serving his country in the U.S. Army. Joining the shop full time in 1969 Ken was a salesman on the floor selling motorcycles alongside his dad, Burt. While at the shop Ken competed in many Flat Track races at Waterford Speedbowl, at Allsted & Laconia, NH, many ice races at Hamilton Rod & Gun Club in Massachusetts, and many Enduros across New England. In the Early 70's he competed in the Berkshire International Trials Race and finished third receiving a bronze medal. He also competed in the Alligator Enduro in Daytona Beach, FL in 1979, 1980, and 1981. Today Ken is semi retired and divides his time between CT and FL. He is married to Tina who also works at Burt Ives. He has two children, a son, Ken Ives Jr., who also loves the motorcycle industry, and is the owner of Chaplin Kawasaki in Chaplin, CT and a daughter Kelly Ksiazkowski(Ives) who has been in the Army National Guard for 18 years and is currently an E7 and the Senior Human Resources Sargent in Newington. Ken has three grandchildren from Kelly, they are Donald, Zachary and Dylan and they are his pride and joy. Hopefully they will continue to enjoy motorcycles too. | Tina is the General Manager of Burt Ives Honda. She was born in North Hollywood, CA and has a brother and sister. She came to CT in 1970 from California and lived in Bozrah. She Graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1985 and worked at Burt Ives Honda for a year until 1986, at that time she couldnt tell the difference between a spark plug and a tire, but has since learned a lot. She then left to pursue a job as a Receptionist at Glastonbury Animal Hospital from 1986 to 1988 and rejoined the motorcycle business in 1990 as a parts person and now enjoys all aspects of the business and tries to make all of our customers feel at home. "Burt always wanted his customers to feel like family" she says and thats what we try to do. She has just recently learned to ride her own motorcycle so she is now an official "biker chick". She is married to Ken, and has no children of her own, except for her "stepkids" and her "adopted" kids that call her "Mommy". Her three grandchildren she gained with Ken are also her pride and joy, and she spoils them whenever she can. | Josh Burns is our newest edition to the Burt Ives Honda Family Store. He is 22 years old, single and currently resides in Willimantic. Josh recently graduated from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, FL. While there he became a certified Honda and Yamaha Technician, and is also certified as a Dynamometer Tech. He has achieved the Bronze level status as a tech with American Honda and is working his way up to silver. His ultimate goal is to one day own his own motorcycle business. His interests include many sports, especially basketball and riding his motorcycle. Any type of outdoor sports is always fun. |  |
